Magnum King Symatic Survives Fatal Highway Crash

Dancehall artiste Symatic, who emerged winner from this season's Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall, is counting his blessings after narrowly escaping major injuries from a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday night.

“Bwoy, a just the mercy a God, because the result could be different,” Symatic said.

The artiste said he and a female were travelling at about 40 miles per hour in a Honda Fit towards Mammee Bay when the tyres locked up on him suddenly.

"When mi realise that the two front wheel lock left, and ah send me into the wall, mi mash the brakes and the car swing back into the road, but because the wheels dem lock, the car flip and end up inna the gutter," Symatic reported.

"When mi come out and look behind the gutter, is a big hole behind it, if the car had fallen into that, mi wouldn't survive it, mi just glad mi never did a drive fast," he added.

Symatic, given name Rodane Oliphant, said although he is still shaken up by the incident, it is business as usual.

“It's back to the recording studio because no accident can hinder my career,” he said.

Currently the singjay is promoting several singles. Among them is a collaboration with the competition's second-place winner Vanzo called Accapella Vibes.

He entered Magnum Kings & Queens of the Dancehall in 2010 when he was 14, and again in 2014 and 2016. On his two previous attempts he failed to make it past the auditions.
