Ataklan Bio

Mark Jiminez known by his stage name 'Ataklan' is a singer, performer, song writer, label owner, producer and promoter from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago. He started out at a tender age in the music industry and has maintained and cultivated his iconic sound, integrity and innovation in his approach to music. 
He has collaborated with major Caribbean artists including Bunji Garlin (Trinidad and Tobago), Sizzla Kalonji (Jamaica) and Bunny Rugs (Jamaica) to name a few. He has also worked with international acts such as Alonestar (UK), Graham Massy & the Bollywood Toolshed (UK) and Jamtech Foundation (Sweden). 
He is widely known for creating music within the Rapso genre which is a fusion of Rap and Calypso music, however, he also has tracks in several other genres including Reggae, Soca, EDM, Trap and Dancehall. 
Ataklan has released 3 albums in the span of his career thus far Atanomical, Atamorphisis and Atavival and has been referred to as the 'Midnight Robber' of his generation (a local folk character known for his lyrical prowess and acerbic tongue) . While producing his own music on his label TAJ Records, he has also produced other up and coming artists in his community of Morvant, Laventille which is known for both its criminality as well as for being a cultural epicenter on the island. 
With his distinctive vocal tone, insightful writing and incredible performance ability, he has occupied a specific niche while still appealing to fans of various genres and demographics. His musical themes range from Love, social injustice, upliftment, satire and human nature.
