Popcaan wins MOBO Award 2016

Dancehall artiste Popcaan won the MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act earlier this evening. The awards ceremony took place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

Popcaan has now won the award twice, after copping the award last year.

Popcaan, who also performed at the event, beat out other nominees, including Alkaline, Spice, Protogé, and Kranium.  This was Popcaan’s fifth nomination.

Popcaan impacted the UK music scene this year with hits including ‘Nuh Idle’ and ‘Mi Unruly’. His 2016 collaborative single ‘I'm In Control’ with English duo AlunaGeorge reached number 39 on the Official UK Charts.

The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) 'recognises artistes of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music'.
